It is not the regular tour in odisha , we try to present here how a river and rural life is the soul of our state . yes , friend I am talking about one of the main river of eastern India – “The Mahanadi”, ancient name was “ModaGanga”.
So what you spell the single word this special itinerary we try to present the culture, history, heritage, wildlife, people, colorful costume, fair and festival, classic dance, tribal culture & cuisine of real Odisha, (ancient name of Kalinga) prosperous along with the River Mahanadi.
So in our special interest journey we first begin our point from western part of Odisha (Orissa) ancient name was Koshal and conclusion at the mingling point of the great river and sea (bay of Bengal) on Eastern coastal part of our state.
Suggested itinerary
D1- Though our tour start from Western Odisha so our arrival point is Jharsuguda
Location – Nearest airport is Jharsuguda/ it is one of the major railhead too. So upon arrival at Jharsuguda meet our reprenstative and transfer by road to Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary which take 2.30hr drive .
Overnight – Relax at the eco cottage inside the core of Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary.
D2- Morning natural alarm call by different birds and animal wild on nature and open jee safari to meet the wild animal on nature
/ and then proceed to visit the longest river dam in the world at Hirakud then proceed to one of the most cultural city of western odisha- Sambalpur.- enjoy the nice sun set on the river bed of the great Mahanadi- (total driving hour- 1.30hr + visit)
Overnight- Sambalpur
D3- Visit the Mysterious bend temple of our state popularly called the pissa of India at Huma and panoramic river view and catamaran boating for the stone island.
Feed the Kuda fish while boating too. (boating is possible during winter and summer season –(Oct- May)/ Explore the ancient history of Binka and excursion the unique textile pattern at there popularly known as “ Bomkai”
Overnight- Sonepur
D4- Morning heritage walk of old part of town Excursion different ancient temple and meet the pottery making artisan and excursion their age old tech of pottery making classic tech
. and then cool morning view of Classic Mahanadi ghat and activities over catamaran boat (with boatman) at Sonepur.
Overnight- Sonepur
D5- To feel more to this beautiful river our next destination is Badmul
(nice tented accommodation on the sand bar of Mahanadi) and enroute visit the only star shaped group of ancient temples of our country at Baud / afternoon visit the isolated tribal village and evening enjoy the tribal dance along with bon fire and organic cooked tribal food at there.

D6- Meet the wild skimmer birds on nature while boating (noise free petrol boat with boatman) on river Mahanadi then ancient Nilamadhav temple at Kantilo and charchika temple at Banki is the nice experience
Overnight at – Athgarh
D7- Visit the unique 7th c AD Singhnath temple on river island and excursion the beauty and ancient sculpture over there. And then our next destination is pre-historic rock art at Pathapur jungle .
Overnight-at the nice heritage home at choudwar.
D8- Morning hiking 1hr (flat jungle path) meet the Saura tribe at their isolated village in Damadamuni jungle range also excursion the classic culture of Munda tribe at their village.
Overnight- same heritage home at choudwar
D9-Our next destination now Santal tribal village (famous for their unique mural painting) and then after prachi valley civilization
(which is one of the oldest civilization in history) / if time permit visit the sun temple at Konark
Today we accommodate at eco beach resort at Konark and nice mouthwatering sea food experience at there.
D10- Enjoy the sunrise on chandrabhaga beach (subject to no cloudy weather) then our next destination is Chandanpur (it is a nice small village along with river Bhargavi – the tributary of river Mahanadi.
Enroute visit the one of the most culture city of eastern India – Puri
By cycle rickshaw tour (with rickshaw man) visit the classic part of puri
Enjoy the mouthwatering classic organic cooked dinner at nice village home retreat Selanidingo at chandanpur host by nice cultured couple. Classic musical night at here too.
D11- Meet different birds on nature while catamaran boating (with boatman and local guide) on river bhargavi at Chandanpur/
if desire nice classic breakfast on boat. And enjoy the village walk to explore the classic life of real odisha.
Evening enjoy the traditional Gotipua dance at this retreat. (optional)
